Scanner Perils
Papaw hands me his processed photos, and I lay two of them on the scanner bed. I press the button, and the scanner buzzes and whirrs. The scanned image appears on the computer's screen.
"Arghh!" I groan. "The image of Christian and Jacob is covered with a green cast and the crisp quality of the original is transformed into a freakish rippled nightmare."
I try everything I can think of to adjust the settings. I even read the Help menu. ~smirk~ The groan in my stomach grows into an agonized bubble. I bought a top-the-line scanner to avoid such problems, and I've been delighted with my choice.... until now.
"The power outage must have zapped something," I say.
"I don't see how an outage would hurt anything. You have your scanner plugged into a surge supressor, don't you?" says Keith.
"Yes," I am not consoled. It doesn't matter if it's zapped or not. The scanned photo is awful, and I don't know how to fix it.
I load up PSP and the scanned photo image. I try to color correct it. Nothing works. I'm sick.
Mamaw suggests, "Why don't you turn it off and on?"
"I've done that, but I haven't unplugged it," I say. So I shut down the computer, unplug the scanner from the surge suppressor, and then wait for a couple of minutes before plugging it into the back of my BC Pro UPS. I press the scan button and wait for the screen to reveal one line of pixels at a time. When it finishes, I have a life-like color photo.
I have no idea why it didn't work or what I did that made it work again. All I care about is that it works. One of the photos I scanned was Christian in Valdez.

Scripts and Updates
The no-right-click script was messing up the wedding page when viewed with a screen reader. So I put a different no-right-click script on this page. It's not in the head. It's the last thing on the page before the counter. Does this version of the no-right-click script mess up the screen reader?
Does the comment script on http://pamelajoy.com/ mess up the screen reader (or anything else?) If it works okay, I will add it to the wheat-free diary blog.
If anyone has a comment on my site and wants to make a quick note, these comment links are great for that.
I don't have most of the pages uploaded to rivalpro.net. I'm trying to only put pages on there that are working, tested, and finished. Unfortunately, I can't test some of the pages unless I put them on the current location of pamelajoy.com which is rivalpro.com. So....few links will work.
Since I'm changing my pages to shtml as I go along, I need a redirect from the old html page to the new shtml one. I'm assuming this won't work with relative links (although I haven't tried it).
Right now I'm working in the wheat free diary section of my site. I got a domain name http://wheatfreeliving.com/ for it, and some of the relative links are not working. Since I have to fix them anyway, I'm updating the pages to shtml at the same time.
This page will be the template:
http://wheatfreeliving.com/diary/index.php
Here I come up with the problem of anchor links not working, thus prompting my interest in PHP. However, I don't have a clue how to make anchor links in PHP and have them work with the blog template at blogger.com/. I don't even know how to make them work without the blog template. LOL
Yes, I know there are two blogger buttons... haven't fixed that error yet... but will... :) )
Much more work needs to be done; makes me tired thinking about it. I know it'll be worth it, though. I never dreamed that my web site would grow so large! :p I should have done this eons ago.
