When I first started this website in 1997, I had visions of sharing my journey step-by-step so that others wouldn't have to go through the same agonies that I did in learning the Internet. Along the way I found helpful people who would share their knowledge with me so that the journey wasn't quite so agonizing. After all these years, I still have intentions of collecting the links that have helped me so much. Here are a few of my favorites. I hope they help you as much as they have helped me.
WebPage Making Links
~ HTML help pages ~
- Atomz.com - provides a search engine for your site. I use it to validate the internal links because the log will tell you which page on your site had the dead link.
- My IP - Sometimes when I am looking through the logs of my website, I want to know what my IP is so that I can tell the pages that I viewed.
- Favicon from Pics is great for making your own personalized icon from any image. I drew my image and then Favicon generator converted it to an .ico format.
- W3 Schools - is a wonderful place to learn how to write HTML, CSS, XHTML, browser and server scripting.
- PageCounter has a neat little utility that will count all the pages on your site. Atomz will also count the pages.
- Dr HTML will give you a single page analysis of your site, including document structure, image syntax, table analysis, browser and font support, form structure, spelling, metatags, and HTML format.
- GraphicGoo is a friendly forum of graphic artists who are willing to share their knowledge.
- Webmonkey has provided me many tutorials that have helped me to learn CSS and HTML tricks and tips.
- Webopedia, online Internet dictionary, is the place to go if you hear an Internet term that you don't understand.
- Keyword Density Analyzer will help you determine the density of keywords on your web pages. Some people think this is important for getting a high ranking on search engines. My theory has been to provide content and they will come.
- W3.org Validator will tell you if your HTML markup is correct. This also helps me find typos in my HTML.
- W3.org Link Checker will check one page or several linked pages. This is another good way to check for typos in URLs.
- CSS Validator will validate your style sheet. I have learned so much from using this service. I aim to have every page validate except those that have the colors on the scroll bar. That will not validate.
- ZDNet Software Downloads provides programs which makes creating webpages easier with developer tools, utilities, security programs, and more, all sorted by category.
- Windweaver Web - Windows training and web design, Internet search, web design, windows resources, guides, manuals, articles, tools, tips, and links.
- Search Links - Top Search Engines, Directories, Libraries, MetaSearch Pages - a selective collection of top Net search
tools.
