I can't believe the whole month of July is over. The first week of the month, we went to Anchorage. Pam and Brendon came with us. He was so good riding in the car duing that long trip. He only fussed when the sun would get into his eyes and he couldn't move because he was strapped into his car seat.
The first day I overdid it. I had to spend most of the next day resting and sleeping. I couldn't make my legs respond to my commands. We went shopping, but I didn't really need anything. Mostly we looked at stuff for Brendon. Pam bought him a new carseat in Wasilla on the way home.
Mt.McKinley was visible on the drive back. I convinced Keith to stop and let me take photos along the way. I am glad that I did because by the time we got to the McKinley viewpoint, the clouds had moved around the peak. Mornings are the best time to see it.
We had some hot temperatures during the month, but by the last week of the month it was raining every day. One day matched the rainfall of 1967 when Fairbanks flooded. A flood control project protects the city now from a repeat disaster.
On July 8, it was in the eighties, and I had to keep the drapes closed or else the house would have heated up to over 100F. Golden Days had beautiful sunny weather. We couldn't have asked for better.
Usually we don't get this much rain until August. Some areas outside Fairbanks flooded, and power was off because the poles floated out of the ground.
