If I were to write you a letter, dear friend, this is what I'd say . . .

When Lisa called I was taking a nap, and she woke me from a sound sleep.  I didn't wake up completely until five minutes after I hung up from talking to her.  Keith was supposed to call Lisa and find out when they are arriving and where they are staying.  I assumed he had her phone number.  She gave it to me, but I didn't write it down.  I hope my assumption doesn't cause us to miss their visit.

Lisa called from El Paso, Texas.  She and her husband, Fred, are taking a tour to Alaska.  They will be arriving in Fairbanks on Friday night.

Sunday Keith and I drove through downtown Fairbanks.  The new Marriot hotel has surely changed the look of downtown forever.

Well, it's been exactly a week that she's been gone.  Would you say I'm anxious? Of course, she didn't say when the week was going to start.  LOL

She didn't seem angry at me when I saw her Tuesday evening.  She said she was going to be out of town for a week. It's been a very pretty summer here.  Mostly I've stayed indoors, though.  I can't think of any reason to go outside, and I think the pollen in the air just aggravates my sinuses.  Boy! do I feel like a hypochrondriac.

I was supposed to meet my new friend this morning at 9:30 a.m.  I woke up at 9:37 a.m.  Oh, brother!  I feel terrible about missing her.

I got an answer to my prayer.  I have a new old friend.  She is someone I've known for years but we've never gotten to really know each other.  She lives in Nenana and I live in Fairbanks.  When she is in town we might have a short conversation, but there's never the time to get into anything in depth.

After I expressed my desire to have someone to talk to, she calls me on the phone out of the blue.

"Do you have e-mail?" she asks.

Do I have e-mail?  Do I have e-mail!!!

I could use someone to talk to today... someone who knows my past history... who knows what I've been through, am going through... someone who didn't need any explanations... someone who would sit with me and share my pain.

it's hot today... and very pretty...nothing like a Fairbanks summer... I heard on the news that Jeffrey's Restaurant is closing down..... Royal Fork already closed down this year... no Arby's.... no Sizzler... McDonald's is doing a thriving business, however...

Visited a lot of old friends over the weekend.... we spent five days in Anchorage... although one day was getting there and one was getting home.... Curtis and his Dad were off and doing stuff every minute while I sat in my seat drinking in the atmosphere.....I said a brief hi to several people, Trudy, Brother and Sister Malnarick, Sister Jones, ...had a chat with Donna.... too brief really... I tired easily but feeling good overall... I didn't have the energy to mingle and get out there and find the people I'd like to chat with... perhaps next year you and I can sit down and have lunch and really catch up on old times, what do you say?

bye
